Smart Home Client Services Technician - San Rafael, CA

Our San Francisco Bay Area Client is a specialty electronics design and integration company focusing on high-end residential projects. In particular they specialize in the design, installation and maintenance of distributed video & audio systems, private theaters, media rooms, lighting, shading and environmental controls as well as data, phone and video services infrastructure.


The Client Services Technician services, installs and/or programs low-voltage systems in residential and/or commercial projects. This position requires an individual with great customer skills, is professional, and has strong time management skills, a good knowledge of multiple control systems and a good concept of programming.


Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and web applications.

Familiarity with Apple IOS products (Apple TV, iPad, Airport Express, iPhone/iTouch, OS10, etc.) as they relate to daily use for interfacing with and controlling integrated homes and/or home networks.

Ability to navigate around PC and Mac computers.

Able to navigate around PC, file structures, the control panel and command line prompts.

Advanced knowledge of electronics application and theory.

Full understanding of the pre-wire, trim and final phases of a project, including proper use of all associated tools and jobsite safety.

Able to read and understand device layout drawings, engineered schematics and provide redline corrections and construction blueprints as they pertain to A/V industry.

Advance understanding of Ethernet network system setup, able to set port forwarding, MAC addressing and basic configuration.

Expert knowledge of all test equipment.

Advance understanding of serial communication language protocols.

Able to demonstrate expert knowledge of the Company’s product line.

Able to trim phone & data jacks, speakers, volume controls, IR receivers keypads, touch screens, and other devices unsupervised.

Expert knowledge and understanding of wire differentiation, connectors, connections, splicing, and head-end termination.

Practices exceptional wire management and dressing skills. (Racks, interconnects and wire runs in construction unsupervised)

Able to mount video displays and projectors, terminate wires, and perform ISF calibration unsupervised.

Able to install, set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot multi-room audio systems unsupervised.

Able to install, test, setup and troubleshoot advance AV receivers unsupervised, and have an advance understanding of acoustics.

Job Benefits

$38.00 to $50.00 per hour. DOE.
